SHELBY JEAN BUTLER LANTON
COLUMBIA.… Shelby Jean Butler Lanton, a resident of Columbia, passed away Wednesday afternoon, March 4, 2020 at a Dothan hospital. She was 70.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, March 6, 2020 at the Shiloh Free Will Baptist Church with Brother David Issac, Brother Billy Dickerson, and Brother Earl Dollar officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Wright Funeral Home & Crematory directing.
Mrs. Lanton was born in Donalsonville, Georgia, to the late Harris Butler and Donis Trawick Butler. She lived most of her childhood in the Gordon, Alabama area, before moving to Columbia, Alabama over fifty years ago. She was a member of the Shiloh Free Will Baptist Church – Columbia. Jean was known for putting others before herself. She was never satisfied until everyone else around her was settled first. Her love for children inspired her to have a home child daycare at one time. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren with all of her heart. She always treated everyone as they were her own.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Harris Butler, Jr..
Leaving to cherish her memories are her husband of fifty-two years, Rudolph Lanton; her daughter, Wendy Bonner (Casey) of Ashford, AL; her son, Steve Lanton (Susan) of Ashford, AL; her grandchildren, Desarae Ingle (Jared), Dillon Bonner, Holden Lanton, and Ethan Bonner; her great-grandchildren, Ella Jane Ingle and Georgia Kate Ingle; her sisters, Delores Murphy of Ashford, AL, Peggy Butler of Gordon, AL and Brenda Butler of Ashford, AL; her brother, Bobby Butler (Debra) of Dothan; a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers will be Holden Lanton, Dillon Bonner, Ethan Bonner, Kevin Murphy, David Money, and Chad Butler.
