HEADLAND… Annie Laura Davis Atwell, a resident of Headland, Alabama, passed away Friday, February 13, 2026, at a Dothan hospital. She was 47.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 3:00PM, on Sunday, February 15, 2026, at Wright Funeral Home and Crematory. A private service and burial will be held at a later date. Wright Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.

Annie was a lifelong resident of Headland, daughter of the late Billy and Anne Davis. She was a 1997 graduate of Headland High School. She received a Master of Education degree from Troy University and taught in Houston and Henry County schools before finding her passion working with “her babies” at Headland Christian Preschool where she was currently employed.

Annie was an avid reader, lover of animals, enjoyed crime-solving games, and most of all, she loved spending time with her daughter, Harper.

Along with her parents, Annie was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Horace and Willie Belle Burnham; her paternal grandparents, Monroe and Frances Davis; and a special great-uncle and aunt, Woodrow and Corene Grantham.

Leaving to cherish her memories are her daughter, Harper Atwell; her sister, Betsy Swihart (Steven); her brother, Andy Davis (Joy); her nieces, Haylee Stringer (Nick) and Ella Parris; her nephews, Andrew Davis, Mason Parris, and Mason Swihart; her great-nephew, Davis Stringer; and her daughter’s grandparents, Delyn and Linda Atwell.

In accordance with Annie’s wishes, she was an organ donor, leaving behind a legacy of compassion and life.
