BROTHER HERBERT HAROLD PETTIS

ABBEVILLE Brother Herbert Harold Pettis, a resident of Abbeville, Alabama, passed away early Saturday morning, April 6, 2024, at a Dothan hospital. He was 82.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Thursday, April 11, 2024 at Wright Funeral Home & Crematory Chapel with Brother Autry Barnhill officiating. Eulogies will be given by his son, Rondal Pettis and Brother B.J. Dailey. Burial will follow in the Gardens of Memory Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Wednesday evening, April 10, 2024, at Wright Funeral Home & Crematory. Wright Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.

Brother Pettis was born in Brewton, Alabama to the late Herbert Jackson Pettis and Barbara Evelyn Smith Pettis. He was a graduate of Tate High School in Pensacola, Florida. He moved to Abbeville, Alabama over forty-two years ago to pastor The New Testament Holiness Church where he loved to play and sing and preach about his Jesus. Ministry and family were his life. He loved his wife and kids, grands and greats, but most of all he loved Jesus. Although he loved life and lived it to the fullest, he didn’t live for this world, but he lived as one who knew that he was just passing through on his way to a better place. He fought his fight and ran his race well, and now he’s rejoicing with the Angel band!

Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sister Nancy Virginia Hensel, and his grandson, John Scott.

Leaving to cherish his memories are his wife of fifty-eight years, Bonnie Jenice Lowery Pettis; his daughters, Terrie Pettis and Jamie Roney (Blake); his sons, Rondal Pettis (Christie) and Gary Pettis (Prissy); his sisters, Ruthie Magoulas, Rebbie Cook, Rita Faye Dunaway (Richard), and Shirley Jordan; his brothers, Paul Pettis (Phyllis) and Tony Pettis; his grandchildren, David Haddock, Aaron Mills (Chris), Naomi Ledford (Dylan), Gabriel Pettis (Taylor), Savannah Pettis, Spencer Pettis, Evie Pettis, Oliver Roney, and Cora Roney; his great-grandchildren, Addi Ledford, Zane Ledford, and Holland Mills; his several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his fur-grandbaby, Teddy.

Serving as active pallbearers will be Gabriel Pettis, Spencer Pettis, Dylan Ledford, Shane Worley, Christopher Nichols, and Hunter Tisdale.
