Mr. Jerry Snellgrove was born in Elk City, Oklahoma, to Aline Hickman Snellgrove and the late James Earl Snellgrove. He was a devoted family man, a hardworking individual, and a friend to many. He was an active member of Piney Grove Primitive Baptist Church, where he served as Deacon as well as treasurer for many years.
Jerry worked as the logistics manager at Sony for thirty years. He was also employed at Dunbarton and then at HNB First Bank before retiring. He was known for his strong work ethic and his willingness to help others. He had a natural talent for fixing things and could often be found working on a project. Although his repairs sometimes became a love-hate relationship, he always found a way to make things work—with his trusty JB Weld, duct tape, zip ties, and hay wire close by.
Jerry enjoyed life’s simple pleasures. He loved playing games, traveling, and spending time with the people he cared about. He had a special love for his JEEP and enjoyed the adventures that came with it. He had a sweet tooth and never turned down a good treat. Jerry was also known for being a great storyteller and could talk for hours, sharing memories and making connections with those around him.
Above all, Jerry had a generous heart. He would do anything for anybody and was always willing to lend a helping hand. His love for his family was evident in everything he did, and he treasured the time he spent with them.
In addition to his father, Jerry is preceded in death by his sister, Barbara DeShazo.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Jennifer Bond Snellgrove; children, Jessica Brooke Motley (Justin) and Jayme Blake Snellgrove (Morgan); mother, Aline Hickman Snellgrove; grandchildren, Jayleigh Motley, Jaxson Motley, Nora Snellgrove, and Henry Allen “Hank” Snellgrove (due in January); sister, Kathy Drew (Jeff); brothers in law, Thomas Bond (Elaine), Birdie Bond (Susan), Anthony Bond (Mershon) and Kim DeShazo; several other loving family members and friends.
Serving as active pallbearers will be his nephews.
Jerry will be remembered for his kindness, humor, hardworking spirit, and the many lives he touched. He leaves behind a legacy of love, generosity, and cherished memories that will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
