JOHNNY BOYD
ASHFORD… Johnny Boyd, a resident of Ashford, Alabama, passed away Tuesday morning, December 23, 2025, at his home. He was 77.
A celebration of life service will be held 10:30 A.M., Sunday, March 29, 2026, at his home, at 392 Peach Farm Road, Ashford, Alabama 36312, with Brother David Evans officiating. The annual Boyd Easter Egg Hunt, which he loved having for his family and friends, will be held following the service. Wright Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Boyd was born in Hogansville, Georgia, to the late Ralph Boyd and Evelyn Loggins Boyd Stines. He graduated in 1966 from Lanett High School and went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in business from Georgia Tech. He had previously lived in Valley, Alabama and Atlanta, Georgia before moving to Ashford, Alabama. He served his country as a Sergeant in 101st Airborne Division with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War from 1968 through 1970. He was a Mason in the Leroy Duncan Lodge in Atlanta, Georgia. He owned and operated B&S Delivery Service after retiring from Rich’s / Macy’s Department stores where he was director of home deliveries. He was a big family man and loved get togethers around the holidays, especially Easter.
Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Steve Boyd; and his stepbrother, Ronnie; and his stepson, Benjamin Wood.
Leaving to cherish his memories are his wife, Katie Boyd; his sons, Michael Boyd (Jill), Shane Boyd, and Chris Wood (Sara); his sister, Jackie Andrews (Jamie); his brother, Charlie Boyd (Lisa); his half-brother, Derrick Boyd; his grandchildren, Jacob Boyd, Olivia Boyd, and Tori Barfield (Colt), Tyler Hogan (Parker), Evan Boyd, Lindsey Boyd, David Wood, Kennedy Wood, Ty Bumpus, and Athena Bumpus; his great-grandchildren, Stevie Hogan, Lawson Hogan, and Beau Barfield; his first wife and mother of his first two sons, Kay Boyd.
