MABLE MIXON MASSEY

Mable Mixon Massey of Headland, Alabama went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, September 16, 2020 at the age of 84.

Funeral arrangements for Mrs. Massey will take place on Saturday, September 19, 2020 with a visitation at 1:00 p.m. and the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. at the Wright Funeral Home and Crematory in Headland, Alabama. Mrs. Massey will then be laid to rest at the First Baptist Church of Headland cemetery. Dr. Cecil M. Sanders, Jr. and Reverend Norman C. Simmons will officiate the service. Wright Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements.

Mable Mixon Massey was born Mable Jerone Mixon, on December 19, 1935, to Clarence and Gladys Mixon. She was the third of five sisters and was raised in Newville, Alabama where she attended Union Springs Baptist Church. She graduated from Newville High School in 1954 and later graduated from Riley’s Business School. Mrs. Massey was a legal secretary at Hardwick, Hause, and Segrest for 28 years, before retiring and working at the Headland First Baptist Church Child Development Center, where she taught in the four year old program.
Mable was married to the love of her life Jerome, for 47 years. She loved her family and was a member of First Baptist Church of Headland for most of her adult life. She enjoyed cooking, spending time with her sisters, visiting with her many grandchildren and great grandchildren, learning to play the piano and celebrating the Christmas season.

Mrs. Massey was preceded in death by her parents David Clarence Mixon and Gladys Royals Mixon; her sisters Helen Mixon McLain, Martha Ann Mixon Golden, Judy Mixon Carr; and her great grandson Coleman Laye.

Mrs. Massey was survived by her husband Charles Jerome Massey; her son Danny Clarence Parker (Lynne); her daughter Renae Massey Farley (Steve); her sister Treta Mixon Lee; her granddaughter Jennifer Parker McNeill (Ken); her grandson Ron Laye (Kalli); her granddaughter Kimberly Parker Dobson (Derek); her granddaughter Ranah Laye Dozier; and her great grandchildren Hannah McNeill, Grace McNeill, Claire McNeill, Jacob McNeill, Nathan McNeill, Levi McNeill, Mary McNeill, Annie Laye, Griffin Laye, Owen Laye, Addison Laye, Aidan Dobson, Parker Dobson, Jay Dozier, and Mary Knox Dozier.

Serving as active pallbearers will be Kenneth Carr, Derek Dobson, Ken McNeill, Ron Laye, Brad Lee, and Jacky Bostick. The Massey Hunting Club of Luverne, Alabama will serve as honorary pallbearers.
