ATLANTA, GA…..Richard Brooks, a resident of Atlanta, Georgia and formerly of Abbeville, has gained his heavenly wings. He was 57.

A Going Home Celebration will be held 11:00 A.M. Sunday, March 29, 2026 at Wright Funeral Home and Crematory Chapel with eulogies given by family and friends.

Mr. Brooks was born to the late Carl Brooks, Sr and Vera Mae Brooks. A proud graduate of Abbeville High School, he was known for his many talents and versatility. Throughout his life, he worked in various fields, with a special focus on the pulpwood industry, always willing to lend a hand for odd jobs in his community.

A long-time member of New Bethel Baptist Church, Mr. Brooks held his faith dear to his heart. Over fifteen years ago, he made his home in Georgia.

He had a deep love for his family, especially enjoying time spent with his nephews. Whether it was drawing, working on trucks, or crafting something from scratch, he was a creative soul with a passion for building and creating. His hands were never idle, and he took great pride in his work.

His memory will live on through the countless lives he touched, and he will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Leaving to cherish his memories are his siblings, Carl Brooks, Jr., Timothy Brooks (Stephanie), Cynthia Brooks, Latonya Brooks, Kenyetta Brooks, Maurice Brooks, Shaterra Brooks; several nieces and nephews; other loving family and friends.
