ROBERT “ROB” ARNOLD DAY
KINSEY… Robert “Rob” Arnold Day, a resident of Kinsey, Alabama, passed away Friday, June 27, 2025, at a Dothan hospital. He was 61.
In keeping with Rob’s wishes, there will be a Celebration of Life at a later date.
Rob was born in Lynn Haven, Florida, November 1, 1963, the youngest of three sons, to Kenneth Ray and Mary Eleanor Williams Day. He was a 1982 graduate of Bay High School in Panama City, Florida. He received his B.S. in Education from Auburn University in 1988.
Rob worked for the Boys and Girls Clubs of America for 20 years with stops in Auburn; Huntsville; Decatur; Dublin, Georgia; Dothan; and the Florida Panhandle. He also ran a decorative concrete flooring business, managed a local affiliate of the Golf Channel Amateur Tour, and hosted a radio talk show centered on golf, before retiring due to health reasons in 2010.
Rob was an accomplished athlete. He played baseball on a scholarship at Wallace College, Dothan. He was a member of the Auburn University Olympic Weightlifting Team and was a student assistant for the Auburn University Track and Field Team. He took up golf after college and ultimately became a 7 handicap, which he could tighten up if money was on the line. He had several sports highlights throughout his life including hitting a hole-in-one while playing golf with his father, hitting a home run in the Little League World Series, and being ranked 3rd in the nation in his weight class in Olympic lifting in college.
After retirement, Rob spent countless hours working in his yard and on DIY projects at his house. He and his wife Susan attended many Auburn sporting events and traveled to visit friends and family, excited to discover new and unique restaurants on their trips.
In addition to his parents, Rob is preceded in death by his brothers Kenneth Ray Day, Jr. and David Christian Day.
Left to cherish Rob’s memory is his sweetheart, best friend, and wife of 37 years Susan Hartzog Day; sons Jeffrey A. Day (Kaytie) of Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska and R. Dallas Day (Arii Nichols) of Dunwoody, Georgia; grandson Steel Day and granddaughter Story Day, both of Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska; niece Ellie Williams (Raliegh), Huntsville, nephew William Day (Sarah), Auburn, Georgia. Loved ones with fond memories include cousins, Don Dupee, Cindy Lee, Janice Moore, Martha McLain, Joette Booker, and Ed Williams.
