HEADLAND… Wanda "Chub" Floyd McKay, a resident of Headland, Alabama, passed away Monday, June 30, 2025, at her home. She was 61.
Wanda Faye Floyd McKay, affectionately known as “Chub” by family and friends, passed away on June 30, 2025, at the age of 61. She was born on September 19, 1963, the second of five daughters born to the late R.B. Hudspeth and Futcher Mae Floyd. A lifelong and devoted member of Greater Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, Chub joined at an early age and remained faithful until her passing. She graduated from Headland High School in 1981 and devoted her professional life to serving her community. She worked for the City of Headland Police Department as a dispatcher and later as the Water Clerk—a role she held with dedication, professionalism, and love for her hometown. In July 2015, Wanda married the love of her life, Tommy McKay. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and unwavering faith. She is survived by her loving husband, Tommy McKay, and her mother, Futcher M. Floyd. Her children, Aspen Floyd (Daniel Cline) of Dothan, AL, and Ashton Floyd (Cheyenne Flint) of Kinsey, AL, and her cherished grandson, Casey Floyd of Kinsey, AL, will forever hold her memory close to their hearts. She is also survived by her sisters: Deborah Floyd, Angela Nelson, Rosetta Floyd-Miller (Telvis) of Dothan, AL, and Sharla Floyd-May (Brian) of Jacksonville, FL. Her love extended to her nieces and nephews: Marques Morris, Bria May, Avery Miller, Brian May, Jr., and Vontrez McKay; and her great-nieces and nephews: Kynli and Kyler Tomlin, and Avyaan Miller. Chub will be dearly missed by her uncles: Otis Earl Floyd (Sally), Robert Earl McKay, Eugene McKay (Eilene), and Madison McKay (Savaria); and her aunts: Pearlie Doxilly, Joann Floyd, Alice Hudspeth, and Ruby Knight. She is also remembered by her in-laws, Lonnie and Cynthia McKay of Headland, AL; sisters-in-law, Stacey McDuffie of Orlando, FL, and LaTunya McKay of Headland, AL; her goddaughter, Brooklyn Jones; and her godsons: Carlos Flucker, Kyris Jackson, and Masyn Jones. Known for her warm spirit, fierce loyalty, and deep faith, Wanda “Chub” McKay touched countless lives through her service, kindness, and love. Her presence will be missed, but her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
